WFV is a non-profit,
501(c)3, founded in 1997 by a concerned group of
sportsmen who recognized that, in order to conserve our
hunting and fishing heritage in Virginia, the
growing problem of diminishing public lands must be
addressed. We are concerned that without adequate
opportunities for the public to enjoy outdoor recreation, the
support base for conservation of these resources will disappear
along with the land.
Our goal is to work with
landowners, other non-profit organizations, and state agencies to
identify geographic areas throughout Virginia with inadequate
public access; identify lands in these areas suitable for
supporting outdoor recreation; raise funds to acquire these
lands; and finally, provide for the management of these properties
for public use. For information on our most recent land
acquisition initiatives, please visit our
Projects page.
WFV also knows that the
future of hunting and fishing in Virginia is dependent upon the
participation and support of future generations. Our
youth events
are a way to engage up-and-coming sportsmen, and teach them about
their responsibility to conserve wildlife.
We'd like to talk with you
about your land. If you're interested in selling, donating,
or conserving your property, we can help you identify options, and
work with you on implementing strategies which may result in
significant tax incentives.
We'd like to talk with you
about public access needs in your neck of the woods. We want
our projects to benefit those who value Virginia's wildlife.
If you can help steer us in the right direction, we'd be grateful
to hear from you.
